A reverse osmosis (RO) system starts by eliminating sediment and chlorine from the water using a prefilter. Next, it pushes the water through a semipermeable membrane to extract dissolved solids. Once through the RO membrane, the water undergoes further refinement via a postfilter, enhancing its quality before it reaches a dedicated faucet.
